Free International Workshop | Theater and Community – Sentimental Archaeology of a Territory

Dates: August 17–28, 2026, Monday to Friday, 19h30–22h30. Venue: Unidade Roosevelt. This workshop develops participants' awareness of artistic and human function within community contexts. Sessions include creation of performative exercises integrating composition, movement, sound score, scenic space organization, and costume/props work—each piece approximately 9 minutes long. The thematic framework is "Sentimental Archaeology of a Territory," where territory encompasses the community itself: its histories, tensions, and daily lived experience. Led by Rui Germano, Portuguese theater director, master's degree holder in theater and community, and founder of Associação Cultural Beleza Teatro. An established collaborator with SP Escola Superior de Teatro, he facilitates and creates within international exchange projects, specializing in collaborative practices and creative processes rooted in memory, personal experience, and art-community relationships. His work generates scenic experiences that enable cultural exchange across different territories. Target audience: Theater students and anyone interested in the proposed theme, without restriction.
