Socrates Cafe is a place where we come together to reflect on questions of a philosophical nature. Meetings are open to people of all ages and do not require any knowledge of philosophy. We would be grateful if you bring your curiosity about the topic and attentiveness in listening to others.
Meetings will take place every two weeks.
On Tuesdays, Socrates Cafe Warsaw also organizes meetings of the group in the city center in a similar format, which I also warmly encourage you to join (group to be found on FB)!
Meeting format:
0. Brief introduction to the principles and values of the meeting
1. Topic selection
The meeting begins with a democratic choice of topic - we spend ~5-10 minutes gathering question proposals - anyone can submit as many as they wish, or propose none. Then we all vote on the questions we would like to discuss. The topic with the most votes becomes the meeting topic. If several topics tied, we do a second vote to choose one among them.
2. Discussion
The discussion is started by any person present - it does not have to be the author of the question. The conversation is not formally structured, you can signal your wish to speak or engage in the conversation more dynamically. We accept as mutual responsibility enabling other participants to speak.
