What happens when you stop trying to make something good and simply allow yourself to create?
On 5 September, abstract artist Amisa Mukaj is coming to ATMA with a three-hour workshop built around intuitive painting.
Instead of beginning with an image that you need to reproduce, you’ll work with colour, texture, layering and movement and see what develops as you paint.
Amisa will introduce different ways of working with acrylic paints, modelling paste, brushes and palette knives, and guide the group through a series of creative prompts. There will be demonstrations and individual guidance, but no single technique everyone has to follow and no expectation that the paintings should look alike.
Part of the workshop is simply practising what can be surprisingly difficult: experimenting without immediately judging the result, changing direction when something unexpected happens, and making decisions before you know exactly where they will lead.
You don’t need any previous painting experience. Complete beginners and people who already paint are equally welcome.
You’ll leave with your own original abstract painting.
