About the event

Given the rainy forecast for Sunday, 2 Peruvian films (descriptions below) and a reception might be just the treat we need. A music documentary will precede a quiet film about a mother/son relationship. Total time just 103 minutes followed by a reception and nice socializing.

Tickets can be [purchased here](https://silver.afi.com/movies/detail/0100005690/) (to guarantee your entrance) or it should be fine to get tickets at AFI Sunday, given the film is slated to take place in the awesome big theater there. The cost is $15.

THAT SHADOW FADING [AQUELLA SOMBRA DESVANECÍA] A funeral keyboardist, Sol, and her son, Junior, spend one last summer together in Piura, Peru. Junior is due to graduate from university soon and yearns to leave home for the big city of Lima. As mother and son go on long drives through the desert, they struggle to work through everything they have left unsaid, eventually coming to understand each other’s perspectives and needs. Soundtracked by cumbia music playing on the radio, THAT SHADOW FADING is a quiet snapshot of familial love, belonging and knowing when to let go of a place. –Bridget Sweeney Special Features: Special Presentation \| Q&A with filmmaker Samuel Urbina and post-screening reception sponsored by the Embassy of Peru North American Premiere
