House of Usher (aka The Fall of the House of Usher)

The first of Corman’s celebrated Edgar Allan Poe cycle brings together a dream team: screenwriter Richard Matheson and grand guignol horror icon Vincent Price. The actor imbues the haunted Roderick Usher with depth and unexpected sensitivity, but it is the house itself that provides the creeping horror of the story, with evil embedded in its very walls. It was a huge hit for American International Pictures, the company most closely associated with Corman. New 4K restoration from a 4K scan of the 35mm original negative completed at Roundabout. Screen: NFT1. Screening details: Special screening available; 4K Restoration; Intro by Julie Corman.
