About the event

Discover & Taste Japanese Tea — Sayama Tea Tasting Workshop in Copenhagen

Japanese Tea Tasting Workshop with Kunie Kajishima

What if you slowed down and enjoyed a cup of Japanese tea with a little more attention?

For the first time, Nagomi no Zen is hosting an interactive Japanese tea workshop in Copenhagen, inviting you to discover, brew, and taste Japanese tea while learning more about the culture and traditions behind it.

For this special event, we are delighted to welcome Kunie Kajishima, CEO of NPO Agriculture Support Team in Saitama, as our guest speaker from Japan.

Kunie has been sharing the culture and enjoyment of Japanese tea internationally through lectures, tea tastings, and *Tōcha* — a traditional Japanese tea-tasting game — in countries including Germany, France, Italy, and Singapore.

During this workshop, we will focus on Sayama Tea, produced in Saitama Prefecture, one of Japan's renowned tea-producing regions. You will learn about Japanese tea while tasting two different Sencha teas and one Hojicha.

Perhaps you enjoy Japanese tea but are not quite sure how to brew it properly.

Maybe you have wondered how much water temperature and brewing time can really change the taste.

Or perhaps you are simply curious to discover more about Japanese tea and Japanese culture.

Whatever your level of experience, you are very welcome.

No previous knowledge or experience of Japanese tea is required.

Presenter: Kunie Kajishima: CEO, NPO Agriculture Support Team in Saitama / Professor Emerita, Saitama University Kunie founded the NPO Agriculture Support Team in Saitama in April 2017 and has since been involved in exporting Sayama Tea internationally.

Alongside this work, she regularly travels to countries including Germany, France, Italy, and Singapore, where she holds lectures, Japanese tea workshops, and *Tōcha* tea-tasting games. Through these activities, she aims to deepen people's knowledge of Japanese tea while helping more people discover the many different ways it can be enjoyed.

At this workshop, Kunie will introduce us to the world of Sayama Tea and share practical knowledge about how to brew and enjoy Japanese tea at its best.

Facilitator: Masami Kanaguri Owner, Nagomi no Zen

Masami was born and raised in Fukuoka in southern Japan, one of the country's renowned tea-producing regions. Growing up, the comforting aroma and taste of freshly brewed green tea were always a familiar part of everyday life. Today, he is based in Denmark, where he runs Nagomi no Zen and works to introduce more people to the culture and enjoyment of Japanese tea.

He also incorporates principles inspired by Zen into his daily life, valuing simplicity, awareness, presence, and creating quiet moments within everyday life.

For this workshop, Masami will facilitate the overall experience and guide the opening Zen Breathing session.
