Directed by: Wim Wenders Starring: Kōji Yakusho, Tokio Emoto, Arisa Nakano Runtime: 125 minutes Year: 2023
Perfect Days Hirayama lives a quiet and highly structured life in Tokyo, working as a cleaner of public toilets. Outside his daily routine, he finds pleasure in music, books, photography and the trees around him. As unexpected encounters gradually enter his carefully ordered world, glimpses of his past begin to emerge. Directed by Wim Wenders, Perfect Days is a contemplative portrait of everyday life, solitude and the beauty found in seemingly ordinary moments. Kōji Yakusho gives a quietly expressive performance at the centre of the film, while Wenders combines Tokyo's urban landscape with Hirayama's love of music, literature and analogue photography.
The film is in Japanese with English subtitles.
