About the event
We live in a world where AI is becoming increasingly dominant in our everyday lives. Eventually, AI may become truly autonomous, reaching a point where human interaction is no longer necessary.
This autonomy could manifest in different forms: general autonomy comparable to human cognition and decision-making, or a more narrow operational autonomy in which AI systems function independently within specific domains. Should AI be granted rights in order to hold it accountable in the same way we hold individuals accountable? If so, what form should those rights take? If not, what justification do we have for withholding rights from entities that may one day rival or surpass human cognitive abilities?
