Awakenings opens the Amsterdam Dance Event with a night of techno at Sugarfactory in Halfweg. Taking the stage are 999999999, Adrián Mills, Fumi & Serafina, HUJUS, and Novah — acts that set the tone for Awakenings' full ADE program. It is the first of eight shows that Awakenings is organizing at Sugarfactory over five days and nights.
An industrial location with character
Sugarfactory is located on the SugarCity site in Halfweg, halfway between Amsterdam and Haarlem. The location is a former sugar factory that processed sugar beets from 1863 to 1992. Enormous staircases, pillars, and boilers are reminders of the industrial past, while modern facilities and technology complete the picture. The result is a raw, authentic atmosphere that suits the character of techno well.
