Grachtenfestival: Flare Quartet
About the event
The Flare Quartet performs classical and contemporary repertoire at Museumplein during WorldPride Amsterdam. The program features works by Eleanor Alberga, Sem Hak, and Ravel, supplemented by new work by Kebra-Seyoun Charles. You will hear how the string quartet is evolving today. Classic and new side by side The Flare Quartet presents a program in which classical repertoire and new music meet. You will hear Eleanor Alberga's Second String Quartet and Sem Hak's First Quartet , alongside the second movement of Ravel's String Quartet in F. Each work has its own sound world, with a different role for rhythm, color, and structure. In this way, the quartet demonstrates the breadth of the genre. New work by Kebra-Seyoun Charles A special place in the program is reserved for Ballroom (2026) by Kebra-Seyoun Charles. The Flare Quartet enjoys collaborating with young composers and deliberately places new work alongside established pieces. In doing so, the quartet demonstrates how the genre continues to evolve. String Quartet from Utrecht on the Museumplein The Flare Quartet consists of Linde van de Ven and Maartje Rosmulder (violin), Gabriel Torner Alsina (viola), and Laurence Gaudreau (cello). The quartet is performing this concert on Museumplein as part of the Grachtenfestival, which annually brings classical music to unique locations in Amsterdam. Are you interested?
