Wow Funners, we got another caper-adventure story for September: \I’m starting to worry about This Black Box Of DOOM\, by Jason Pargin.
The story begins when a free-spirted young woman hires a lift to LAX, but instead changes her mind and offers the anxious (and low on his meds), socially awkward driver $200,000 dollars to drive her to DC instead in time for the 4th of July. She is delivering a big black roadie case to her boss, you see.
Some simple rules:
• he cannot look inside the box
• he cannot ask questions
• he cannot tell anyone’
• they must leave immediately
• he must leave behind all trackable devices
Q: What could go wrong?
A: Everything.
Everyone tries to find out what is going on: his virtual gamer friends on Social Media speculate, his (asshole) father is convinced he’s in BIG legal trouble that will destroy his own company, and even the FBI is taking interest in their whereabouts when some minuscule amounts of nuclear materials are missing: could it be related?
Let’s grab a beer and find out what the heck is in this Big Black Box Of Doom, Funners! Be sure to make your own guesses and let’s share them!
As always, you don’t have to finish reading the book (but once you start you will want to!), but you cannot bet mad at us for spoilers. (There always are spoilers.)
