Drummer Bill Stewart has been one of the most sought-after musicians in international jazz for decades and shares a long history with double bassist Larry Grenadier in the bands of Pat Metheny and John Scofield, among others. Stewart first played with tenor saxophonist Walter Smith III on a recording for pianist Danny Grissett. Smith's clear sound and distinctive approach proved to be the perfect addition to this piano-less trio.
