Dance improvisation and body awareness: Conscious Release©

We’re excited to welcome Mariana Calazans (check out her bio below), who is travelling from Sicily to lead this special workshop. Conscious Release© is an opportunity to explore how you move, discover new possibilities in your body, and feel more freedom in your dance. Through partner and solo exercises we’ll focus on awareness of our anatomy, releasing unnecessary tension and movement exploration through the use of the skeleton. The workshop aims at finding more ease, creativity and liberty in the body/mind. During the workshop, you can expect:

• simple guided exercises to connect with our body and movement • solo and partner explorations (no partner needed) • improvisation exploration • tools to help us move with more awareness and less unnecessary effort • time to explore and dance freely with others in an open dance session at the end of the workshop

This workshop is for you if you:

• enjoy dancing and want to explore beyond fixed steps • are curious about improvisation and creative movement • want to develop a deeper connection with your body • are looking for a new way to approach dance

The workshop is open to all levels and dance backgrounds. No previous experience with improvisation or somatic practices is required — curiosity is enough.
