At bodies of stories, we generate new material through optional prompts for an hour, and read our drafts out loud (if we feel like it).
We don't do critique. Instead, we offer reflections: what did you feel as you listened to the piece? What stood out? Or leave you with a question?
Witnessing one another can be quite special and open up our writing.
We meet every 2nd and 4th Tuesday.
You're welcome to join at any point during the year, and your first session is free.
New and experienced writers welcome, in any genre (songwriting! screenwriting! slam! poetry! fiction! essays! genre-bending spurts! journaling!), and at any level of English.
Here's how each session unfolds:
• Grab a drink or a bite (this gives us access to the space)
• We do a round of check-ins, around a question of the day
• Receive the prompt (or follow your heart), then an hour of writing
• We each read aloud for 2 minutes (optional, encouraged), and offer reflections
Bring a notebook or laptop, whichever you write in.
We're in the Blue Room at the back of the Sister Brussels Café, Rue Chair et Pain 3, 1000 Brussels. Membership is €100 for the semester (Sep-Jan / Feb-June), or €150 for the year.
