Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride

Filmed in London and set in a 19th-century English village, Corpse Bride follows Victor, a timid young man who is nervous about his forthcoming marriage after botching the wedding rehearsal. He enters the woods to practice his vows but is instead whisked away to the underworld and wed to a mysterious corpse bride. What will she do when she discovers that he is betrothed to another? Burton’s unique brand of macabre visual wizardry dominates this darkly enchanting fable, which was the first stop-motion film to be shot digitally. Programme type: Families. Screen: NFT2.
