Is this your event?About the event
This DDD Vienna meetup focuses on how Domain-Driven Design can help structure and evolve complex, safety-critical systems in the Public Safety domain, supporting police, fire and emergency medical services.
• 👉 The first session looks at how business domains have changed over time as products evolved from hardware-centric to software-centric systems. • 👉 The second session goes deeper into the architecture and explores how Bounded Contexts can help hiding the complexity of voice communication technologies such as SIP, RTP and media handling. • 👉 Between the sessions and afterwards, the Public Safety demo room will be open, giving participants the opportunity to see a real control room environment in action.

• Talk 1: How Business Domains Evolve: From Hardware- to Software-Centric Business domains change as products, technologies and organizations evolve. The talk traces how Frequentis has evolved over time, with the Public Safety domain as a concrete example, and how the shift from hardware-centric products to software-centric systems influenced domain boundaries, responsibilities and architecture — and where Domain-Driven Design comes into play. • Talk 2: Hiding Voice Communication Complexity: SIP, RTP and Bounded Contexts Media handling can bring a lot of technical complexity into larger systems, especially when protocols like the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) are involved. The talk shows how Bounded Contexts, Open Host Services and Anti-Corruption Layers can be used to keep that complexity behind clear boundaries and provide a simpler model to the rest of the system.
------------------ 🗣️About our speakers
• Christian Jung-Kanhäuser: Software Architect, Frequentis AG Christian has been working on safety-critical systems for more than 20 years. He started as a software developer and had since moved through different technical and architectural roles. Today, he is responsible for the architecture of the Frequentis Public Safety portfolio, working on the evolution of complex communication and control-room systems and the transition towards modern software-centric architectures. • Kerstin Nageler: Product Owner, Frequentis AG Kerstin joined Frequentis Public Safety in 2012 as a Software Engineer, initially focusing on voice communication. After several years in software development, she became Scrum Master, supporting the team's growth and the expansion of its competencies.
