About the event

9.2 miles with an elevation gain of 62 feet.
Description: We will begin our hike from the [Gravelly Point](https://www.stayarlington.com/directory/gravelly-point/) parking lot and proceed along the [Mount Vernon Trail](https://www.nps.gov/gwmp/planyourvisit/mtvernontrail.htm) offering a splendid view of the Potomac River. Once over the [14th Street bridge](https://ddotlibrary.omeka.net/exhibits/show/bridges/14thstbridges) we will hike around the [Tidal Basin](https://www.nps.gov/articles/dctidalbasin.htm) and [Hanes Point. ](https://www.nps.gov/places/000/east-potomac-park-hains-point.htm) before returning to Gravelly Point along the Mount Vernon Trail.
Pace: The pace will be about 2.5 mph.
Bring: adequate water/hydration, snacks/lunch, and sturdy hiking shoes and hiking poles if you use them.
