Free International Workshop | Theatre and Community – Sentimental Archaeology of a Territory

Running 17–28 August 2026, Monday to Friday from 19h30 to 22h30 at Roosevelt Unit. Participants will develop a deeper understanding of artistic and human practice within community settings through creation of performative exercises incorporating composition, movement, sound score, scenic space arrangement and costume/props, each approximately 9 minutes in length. Work draws from "Sentimental Archaeology of a Territory", where territory encompasses the community itself—its histories, tensions and daily lived experience. Led by Rui Germano, Portuguese theatre director, master's graduate in theatre and community, and founder of Beleza Teatro cultural association. An experienced facilitator and artist in international exchange projects and longstanding partner of SP Escola Superior de Teatro, Rui Germano works with collaborative practices and creative processes rooted in memory, personal experience and the relationship between art and community, producing scenic encounters that foster cultural exchange across different territories. Open to theatre students and others interested in the theme, age 18+. Selection via CV review and statement of interest. 35 places available. Applications accepted 16 June–10 August 2026.
