Five directors lead a cast of seven actors from the Second-Level Acting Course at the Silvio d’Amico National Academy of Dramatic Art in five performances exploring a shared theme, HEIMAT: Homeland/Stranger, built around the same scenographic device and presented as a five-day marathon.
Ersan Mondtag closes the marathon with a reinterpretation of Winterreise by Elfriede Jelinek. Known for his highly visual theatre, in which scenography, imagery and sculptural composition become central elements of the dramaturgy, Mondtag takes Jelinek’s text on a journey through memory, estrangement and displacement. At its heart is the theme of HEIMAT, understood as a constant tension between belonging and uprootedness, between individual identity and the collective landscape.
