The second talk of the series by Dr. Cavas Bilimoria this month will focus on Antonín Dvořák’s American Quartet.
In 1892, the 51-year-old Czech composer accepted the Directorship of the National Conservatory of Music of America in New York. A simple man who loved nature and an optimist who had firm faith in God, he was much taken with the folk music of Native Americans and African Americans.
