SHIFFT - Biotopia
About the event
SHIFFT presents Biotopia, an immersive dance experience at Theater de Landing Amstelveen. Five dancers take you on a journey exploring the strength and vulnerability of living together. Discover how they attempt to create a utopia in a constantly changing landscape. Discover the journey of the dancers
Five brave people leave. They run for their lives, flee, and hope for a better future. They are trapped in circumstances that leave no room for movement. They leave behind what they know, who they were, how they moved. They search for a place, a feeling, a way of living together that does not yet exist. A utopia?
Experience a shifting landscape
On stage, you see five dancers making this journey: Matilde Tommasini, Jeroen Janssen, Niek Wagenaar, Evelien Jansen, and Wulf Stock. They move through a constantly shifting landscape. Layer by layer, what seemed self-evident disappears: habits, beliefs, the way you carry your body. What remains when everything you previously held onto has fallen away?
Feel the power of confrontation
The dance alternates between tenderness and explosion, silence and confrontation. The dancers support each other, push each other away, and together seek the conditions to exist. Biotopia poses the question of whether you can create that place together. Are you willing to grow closer to each other for this place? Experience a compelling and explosive dance experience about the strength and vulnerability of living together.
