Let’s Share and Connect: Joy
About the event
Joy can show up in unexpected places. Sometimes it’s something big, but often it’s found in the small, ordinary, ridiculous, or completely unnecessary things that simply make us happy.
Some of the things that bring us the most joy can also be the things we hesitate to share. Maybe they feel childish, embarrassing, uncool, or just difficult to explain to someone who doesn’t understand why we love them.
This conversation is about those things.
How We Begin— We will each have a portion of time to share our thoughts on the following questions in respective order below. After everyone is done sharing, we will have a group discussion connecting on each other’s shared experiences.
We don’t have to answer all of the questions…we are just going to go with the flow of the talk:)
Question 1: What is something you do purely because it brings you joy—even if it’s silly, pointless, or something other people might not understand? How did you discover it, and what is it about it that brings you so much joy?
Question 2: What did you love doing as a kid that you somehow stopped doing as you got older? Do you think that part of you is still there?
Question 3: Do you think there are things we’re “supposed” to enjoy—or stop enjoying—because of our age, gender, culture, career, or the kind of person people think we are? Have you ever felt that pressure?
Question 4: Is there a joyful version of you that only certain people get to see—the ridiculous, weird, loud, goofy, nerdy, dramatic, dancing-in-the-kitchen version? Who brings that person out of you?
There are no right answers. The interesting part is hearing how differently we each experience the same thing.
Bring a story. Bring a question. Bring your curiosity. Or just come listen. Let’s talk.
