Lecture: Body and Being in African Art
Nov5
Thursday, November 5, 202618:00 – 19:00About the event
The human body is the center of artistic creation in African art. Whether literally represented, referred to abstractly, or adorned with jewelry, clothing, or headwear, the body and its outer appearance is seen as a reflection of an individual’s inner being—their character, health, and social belonging.
Join Constantine Petridis, Rita Knox Chair and Curator of Arts of Africa, to explore Body and Being in African Art, a new presentation of African art on view in Gallery 227.
