Triple Canopy Symposium 2026 (Day 2)
About the event
Triple Canopy’s annual symposium is a manifestation of the magazine’s concerns and collaborations, in person and in real time. The multiday gathering brings together artists, writers, performers, and researchers to address the role of culture in responding (or contributing) to a range of critical issues.

1PM
Speaking Without Tongues
Cooper Jacoby, Christopher Kulendran Thomas & Maya Man
Generated audio has permeated the sonic landscape, whether as deepfaked soundbites or stilted TikTok voiceovers, and is increasingly difficult to distinguish from human speech. The artists Cooper Jacoby, Maya Man, and Christopher Kulendran Thomas will discuss how they have each trained artificial voices and deployed them to explore loss and desire, power and performance, labor, and celebrity.
3PM
Technomisoginary
Sophie Lewis & Kalindi Vora
The cultural theorists Sophie Lewis and Kalindi Vora will discuss the ways in which misogyny and colonial ideology shape contemporary technologies, as well as how we might combat tech leaders’ annihilatory ethos. Together, they will consider a vision of liberated reproduction (both social and biological) and how devalued, feminized forms of labor might be reimagined and properly remunerated.
5PM
Bets in a Burning House
David Hill, Ayesha A. Siddiqi & Jacob Silverman
Drawing from their writing and research, David Hill, Ayesha A. Siddiqi, and Jacob Silverman will address the rise of prediction markets, as well as their historical precedents and contemporary policies and politics. As prediction markets push to “financialize everything,” who will profit from speculating on—or manipulating—the future, and at what cost?
8PM
Ghosted, Too
Morgan Bassichis
“Adoration has a way of keeping the deceased at least a little bit alive,” Bassichis writes. “I will sometimes refer to them as ghosts, but a bit reluctantly, because that is a term I have only ever heard from the living.” Considering ghosts as manifestations of “unfinished business,” Bassichis will offer provisional reflections on performance as a mode of necromancy, or “visitationship.”
A livestream will be available free of charge at 8pm on the day of the performance and archived for future viewing.
