The Future of Words is a poetry workshop hosted by Future People Collective in collaboration with Lost in the Foxglove. The theme of the evening will explore the word | Saccharine. A word that has many meanings. Sickly sweet. Artificial sweetener. Overly sentimental. We derive value where we align to its position. The Future of Words is an opportunity to understand the many ways we discern meaning between us. Whether it's one person to another in this room, or external connections we never could quite touch. There is something to be said for the ways our hearts, minds, and bodies overlap. Saccharine connections may be some of the sweetest encounters we’ve ever had, an overly sentimental feeling seeping out from our eyes when we think of them, in the form of tears. Or salty residue at the edge of our tear ducts, as we wake up – having dreamt of them in our sleep. Guest Performer: Lauren Bulla is a poet and writer living in East London from North Carolina. Her practise tends to focus on the liminal space between connection, the tossling of memories as they develop and fade, the natural world, queer nuance, and nightlife. She is a two times self-published poet. Her works are entitled, Porcelain Cherries (2024) and In defense of messiness (2026). You can keep up with her on Instagram and Substack.
