You're invited to the August meetup of the effective altruism community!
This is an open meetup - we especially welcome people new to the idea who would like to learn more. We'll introduce you to the topic!
We're part of a global community of people guided by scientific evidence and a rational approach to solving the most pressing challenges.
The goal of our meetups is to help each other find ways that each of us can strategically have a positive impact.
If you haven't heard about effective altruism before, don't worry - we'll introduce you to the concept on site. That said, it would be really helpful if you could take a moment to familiarize yourself with this material:
[An Introduction to Effective Altruism](https://probablygood.org/core-concepts/effective-altruism/)
Our meetups consist of:
• Updates from the world of effective altruism at the global, national and local level.
• Pair discussions to get to know each other better.
• Discussions on global challenges and possible interventions.
• Casual socializing.
The meetup is co-organized by the Effective Altruism UW student circle - we especially welcome students to this meetup!
