About the event

"No vayas a pedirle nada.

About the book:

A masterpiece of the surreal that influenced a generation of writers in Latin America, "Pedro P̀ramo" is the otherworldly tale of one man's quest for his lost father. "I came to Comala because I was told my father lived here—a man named Pedro Páramo. My mother told me so. And I promised her I would come to see him as soon as she died." A masterpiece of Spanish-language literature, this extraordinary Mexican novel tells the story of Pedro Páramo—a local strongman who holds the life and death of the town of Comala in his hands—and of the son who goes in search of him, fulfilling a promise made to his dying mother. The narrator, Juan Preciado, arrives in a town that is uninhabited yet filled with whispers; through them, he learns of the destruction wrought by Pedro Páramo’s turbulent passion for Susana San Juan. Published in 1955 and acclaimed by both the public and critics, "Pedro Páramo" represents a radical departure from the realist novels of its time. "Don't ask him for anything. Demand what is ours. What he was obliged to give me but never did... Make him pay dearly for the way he abandoned us, my son."
