About the Event
While warfare is typically the story of men and victors, Euripides’ Trojan Women turns the tables by giving voice to defeated women of war.
Possibly the earliest powerful anti-war narrative, this tragedy focuses on the devastation suffered by once regal wives and mothers now reduced to captives: the loss of male loved ones, the loss of a city, and the loss of status. What complex emotions does this situation elicit from the voices of the marginalised? How does the female perspective stand apart from and complement the male-centric perspective of the Trojan war found in other texts?
