(De)colonial History Tour - Activists & Fighters
About the event
Explore Oost through the eyes of Amsterdam's Asian, Caribbean, and Black historical badasses History waiting to be uncovered
Amsterdam's Asian, Caribbean, and Black history is just waiting to be uncovered.
Amsterdam has been shaped by those who directly faced colonization and the slave trade, as well as their descendants. The city would be far worse off without the influences of these diverse and culturally-rich communities.
If you're ready to see another side of Amsterdam, join Badass Tours as we share stories of the incredible people that had just as much of an influence as the ruling few.
Activists & Fighters: Resistance to colonialism, slavery, and racism
The first of two tours under the umbrella of (De)colonial History, this one focuses on those who actively fought across the centuries for their rights and the rights of those around them, whether from their home countries or from afar.
We explore the neighborhoods of Plantage and Oost as we connect these stories to sites around Amsterdam.
