Is this your event?About the event
Imagine a festival that looks like Halloween, but carries a much deeper meaning – respect, remembrance, and community. Let's grab a drink, enjoy the ceremony and dinner with us!!
This time, we bring you right on Staunton Street in Central's Soho district. Locals call this area "卅間"– "Thirty Houses".
What is the Central 30 Houses Yu Lan Festival?
During this month, it's believed that the gates of hell open and spirits roam the earth. But instead of "trick-or-treat," you'll see Taoist priests chanting scriptures, incense offerings, and paper effigies being burned to send "care packages" to ancestors.
Why You Should Join Us
This isn't just a religious ceremony – it's a community gathering. For nearly a century, local residents have come together here to preserve their heritage, share blessings, and strengthen neighbourhood bonds. It’s a living tradition that has survived urban renewal and cultural change, right in the heart of one of Hong Kong's most modern districts.
You will discover that what looks like a ghost story is actually a beautiful story of togetherness.
