In Vienna, everything is calm, clean and proper. But what if you intersperse this everyday business-as-usual with footage of catastrophes from the global news? Krieg in Wien is a collaboration by two critical Austrian filmmakers: Ulrich Seidl and Michael Glawogger.
Glawogger and Seidl spent four days filming everyday life in Vienna. Children are born, people die, an older woman stumbles around her modest apartment, where she sees to be completely happy. In the Austrian capital, it’s life-as-usual; the Viennese seem content, and the city looks spotless.
But how does the picture change if you intersperse the documentary footage of the smooth mundanity of the Austrian capital with footage from 24-hour world news, with a focus on catastrophes, war and all…
