Foundational works and contemporary scores showcase the breadth of the wind repertoire in a concert by the FIU Wind Ensemble at the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center. Presented Wednesday, October 7, as part of the FIU Wertheim School of Music & Performing Arts’ 2026-2027 season, the ensemble performs under the direction of Dr. Brenton Alston.
Comprising FIU’s leading students in wind, brass and percussion, the ensemble explores music across the concert band tradition, from established repertoire to contemporary compositions. The program highlights the range, precision and expressive possibilities of large wind ensemble performance.
The concert is part of a season of student, faculty and guest artist performances at The Wertheim, including the FIU Music Festival, New Music Miami ISCM Festival and FIU Miami GuitART Festival.
