WICKET: CLOSING NIGHT + LIVE Q&A Sunday, September 27 | Red Carpet Reception at 5:00 PM | Galaxy Theatres Austin The courage to love. The freedom to be. Help us bring The Big Queer Weekend to an unforgettable close! The evening begins with a Red Carpet Reception at 5:00 p.m., bringing together filmmakers, special guests, and friends of aGLIFF for one final celebration of queer cinema and community. Closing Night opens with Austin filmmaker John La Costa’s award-winning short Aiden & Dean Don’t Fall in Love, a tender LGBTQ+ coming-of-age story about two best friends navigating the weight of unspoken feelings. La Costa will be in attendance to share his film with our Austin audience. Then experience WICKET, the award-winning documentary about legendary breaker Gabriel “Bboy Wicket” Jaochico. After 41 years in the closet, Gabriel confronts his past, his extraordinary legacy in hip-hop, and the transformative power of falling in love—with an art form, another person, and ultimately himself. Stay after the film for a special live Closing Night Q&A with director Lily Plotkin, producer Ryland Hormel, and Gabriel “Bboy Wicket” Jaochico, all joining us in person for this celebration. 🏆 Audience Award Winner – Frameline49 🎬 Aiden & Dean Don’t Fall in Love + WICKET ✨ Red Carpet Reception • 5 PM 🎤 Filmmakers + Bboy Wicket LIVE in Austin 📍 Galaxy Theatres Austin 🎟️ General Admission • $20 Part of The Big Queer Weekend, September 24–27 in Austin.
