Wissahickon Whole Park, 20+ miles
About the event
We are going to loop the entire park for approximately 20 miles and 2000+ ft of ascents. We are going to try to keep a good pace (around 3.0 mph or more) for the entire 20+ miles. You need to be in good shape for this hike. No beginners.
We will be on trails, not Forbidden Drive (the road along the creek). The trails are mostly dirt with some rocks and gravel in spots. We will start from the Pachella Field parking lot (NOT Valley Green), which is near the center of the park, and our route will look like a figure eight. We will take a brief lunch break at the parking lot at the midpoint of the hike, so you can leave food and water to refill your pack in your car. The route will be similar to the last time I did this hike, but not identical.
While it is possible to bail out of the hike at the midpoint if you need to, I would appreciate it if people sign up only if they intend to attempt the full hike. There are lots of shorter Wissahickon hikes on meetup -- there is limited space on this hike and I would prefer to see it go to people who want to do a long hike.
