Improv in the Galleries brings together two iconic Chicago institutions for a one-of-a-kind creative experience, transforming the museum into a stage where art sparks unexpected laughter and imagination
Join performers from the Second City as they blend art, history, and comedy to create completely improvised scenes, songs, and characters based on what they hear in the galleries.
Space is limited. For the safety of the art and comfort of guests, when capacity is reached, late arrivals will be directed out of the gallery.
what to expect
This performance will take place in Gallery 394, on the third floor of the museum’s Modern Wing. The space is accessible by elevator. Limited gallery seating will be provided. Arrive early for the best chance of finding a seat. For the safety of the art and the audience, capacity will be limited to seating only. Late arrivals and standing room will not be permitted. The performance will include amplified music. The program may be recorded and/or photographed by museum staff for promotional purposes.

The Second City opened its doors in 1959 as a small comedy cabaret and has since grown into the world’s most influential name in improvisation and comedy, celebrating its 65th anniversary in 2024.
