She has written more than two dozen novels and short stories, including The Inheritance of Orquídea Divina, Valentina Salazar Is Not a Monster Hunter, and Star Wars: The High Republic: Convergence. Her 2016 novel Labyrinth Lost, book one in the Brooklyn Brujas trilogy, won an International Latino Book Award. Zoraida was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and calls New York City home.Maria Hoey has been writing since she was eight-years-old. Her poetry and articles have been widely published and her short stories have been shortlisted for the Michael McLaverty Short Story Award and the Mslexia short story competition among others. Her debut novel, The Last Lost Girl, was published in July 2016 and went on to be shortlisted for the Kate O’Brien Debut Award 2018.
