Sovereign Son

This documentary tags along with Marcus as he traces follows in the footsteps of a father who lived outside the system. Before long, Marcus also grows distrustful of institutions. He becomes increasingly captivated by the manosphere, which promises him discipline, self-control and a future. In late 2021, the body of Englishman Stanley Powton was discovered in a makeshift tent on the outskirts of Amsterdam. De Eenzame Uitvaart Foundation, an organisation of poets who write verses for individuals with no surviving relatives, tracked down his son, Marcus, just in time for the funeral. He had met his father only once, as an infant. What begins as a quest to find a long-lost father gradually shifts into Marcus’ own desire to live outside the system.
