VSDC LGBTQ+ Brunch & Basquiat

Please join your fellow LGBTQ+ vegans or veg-curious folks to see some art and have a meal together at this [Veg Society of DC](vsdc.org) event! Since folks enjoyed the last museum visit, let's do another one. [Jean-Michel Basquiat](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean-Michel_Basquiat) is thought to have been bi, and there is an exhibit of one of his pieces in the [Basquiat x Banksy](https://hirshhorn.si.edu/exhibitions/basquiat-x-banksy/) exhibit at the Hirshhorn Museum that we can catch before it closes. And, Fruitive is not far from the Hirshhorn and it has lots of great [vegan brunch items ](https://fruitive.com/menu)available. After touring the museum, if the weather cooperates, we might also be able to take a wander around the sculpture garden outside of the Hirshhorn. If you want to skip the brunch portion of the event and just meet the group at the museum, that's fine. Please just drop a comment if that's your plan. I'll also try to keep the event comments updated with the timing for when we'll be walking over to the museum from the restaurant, but I'm guessing that will be about noonish. This event will proceed in the rain, unless it is severe weather, and in that instance, an important comment will be posted to this event page. **When:** Saturday, Sept. 5 from 11am-2pm **Where:** Meet at Fruitive ([701 Pennsylvania Ave NW #150](https://maps.app.goo.gl/JyBJy7xgVh3ErQ2R7)) at 11 am or at the Hirshhorn Museum ([Independence Ave SW &, 7th St SW](https://maps.app.goo.gl/jCzQQxLS7HEVRo8V6)) **Transportation:** Fruitive is very close to the [Archives metro station ](https://www.wmata.com/ridertools/station/archives/info/station-view)(green/yellow line) **Cost:** Museum is free and brunch is at your own expense. ***About the Group*** *Unless noted otherwise, VSDC's LGBTQ+ events are intended for queer/questioning folks who self-identify as LGBTQ+. The events are meant to serve as a safe space to share community with other self-identified queer or questioning LGBTQ+ vegan or vegan-curious people. However, we appreciate our allies and we plan to host "LGBTQ+ & ALLIES" events approximately quarterly - to welcome non-queer allies into our events in order to share community with our fellow vegans/veg curious VSDC participants. If the event is an "& ALLIES" event, it will be clearly identified as such in the name of the event. Any person who participates in an "& ALLIES" event must be supportive of LGBTQ+ persons, their lifestyle, and their gender expression; unsupportive or combative individuals will be removed from events and banned from future VSDC LGBTQ+ events.
