Tacitus' Annals, Books 12-14

Our October meeting will find us perusing the annals of Roman history, quite literally, in Tacitus' *Annals*. We will be reading a short selection from the text, covering books 12-14.

Tacitus was a Roman senator who lived in the latter half of the first century, AD. He was a prolific historian, with the *Annals* being his final work and magnum opus. Our selection discusses the death of Emperor Claudius and the rise of his infamous successor, Nero.
