Marie François - Tchaikovsky’s de seizoenen
About the event
Pianist Marie François performs Tchaikovsky's The Seasons — twelve character pieces for solo piano — at the Pianola Museum in Amsterdam. With a touch of poetry here and there, you get a special preview of a theatre tour spanning the entire year 2026. Tchaikovsky's Year in Twelve Piano Pieces
In 1876, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky published a new piece every month in the Russian music magazine Nouvellist. This is how *The Seasons* came into being: twelve character pieces for solo piano in which he captured the passing of the year in sound. From the wintry hearth fire in January to the melancholy of autumn and the festivity of December.
A cycle spanning the entire year 2026
Exactly 150 years later, Belgian pianist Marie François brings this cycle back to life. Together with production company VONK & Zonen, a new recording will be released every month throughout 2026, paired with a poem by poets such as Joke van Leeuwen, Lize Spit, or Ester Naomi Perquin and an illustration by Juliane Noll.
Concert at the Pianola Museum as a preview
In the intimate Pianola Museum in Amsterdam, Marie François performs the complete cycle in a single concert, with a touch of poetry here and there. It is a preview of the theatre tour later this year, in which music, poetry, and visuals come together. Are you interested? Use the link to reserve tickets.
