Director Jane Schoenbrun (known for the 2024 gender horror film I Saw the TV Glow ) presents Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, a film that won the Queer Palm at Cannes. This sleepover classic dives into pop culture, being queer, and the slasher genre. You will discover a stunningly beautiful and incredibly hot exploration of how creepy intimacy can be and how intimate horror can feel.
Follow the story
After years of bad sequels, young director Kris (Hannah Einbinder) is tasked with breathing new life into the Camp Miasma slasher franchise. This series revolves around the serial killer Little Death. Kris visits Billy (Gillian Anderson), the actress who played the 'final girl'. A sensual bond develops between the women, surrounded by their love for and fear of Little Death, who still roams the grounds.
Experiencing fiction and reality
The film, inspired by works such as Sleepaway Camp, The Silence of the Lambs, and Silent Hill, deconstructs the problematic nature of horror films from the 1980s. It finds a new evil: shame imposed by mainstream culture. Sex is celebrated as a quest for pleasure, a recurring theme throughout the film. Kris undergoes a profound transformation and comes to terms with herself.
