Shakespeare’s Walking Tour
About the event
Be transported back to Shakespeare’s London, discover the magic of stagecraft, and explore the sights of Southwark’s Bankside area – London’s original theatre district – on Shakespeare’s Walking Tour. Immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and secrets of Shakespeare’s London, travelling through over 400 years of fascinating history. Venturing out onto the streets of Bankside, our expert Guides will bring to life thrilling stories of the area around Shakespeare’s Globe including Thameside ferrymen, gruesome animal-baiting sports, and the rise of one of Elizabethan London’s original playhouses, The Rose, where it is believed that some of Shakespeare’s earliest plays were first performed. Tickets include entry to our exhibition, where visitors can discover the history and magic behind Shakespeare’s Globe. All tours are in English and suitable for all ages. Information sheets are available in a number of languages. The Walking Tour takes place outside, on the streets of London, so please dress for the weather.
