Relaxed Bike Ride 3 (Rescheduled)
About the event
[Ride has been rescheduled from September 12 to September 13 due to street closures for Bike DC on September 12.]
In my continuing effort to revive interest in bicycling in Adventuring I offer a third relaxed bike ride of 20.5 miles beginning and ending on the Mall in DC. By "relaxed" I mean our pace will be in the range of 10-12 MPH. Most novice bike riders should feel comfortable with that pace. Of course experienced riders are welcome, too.
We are fortunate to have a good network of bicycle paths, lanes, and bicycle-friendly streets in the DC area. We will make good use of them as we cycle through DC and a bit of Maryland. The Metropolitan Branch and Anacostia River Trails will figure prominently on our ride. [You can click on this link if you want to see a map of our route and the elevation profile](https://ridewithgps.com/routes/56718721?privacy_code=z9YOB5kCFrTDcXGHGeoc2u7s9p8UwCw9). I intend for our group to stay together throughout the ride so you won't need to bother with a cue sheet or navigation device or worry about being "dropped." The only noteworthy climb on the ride is very gradual as you will see by looking at the elevation profile.
We'll meet at Smithsonian Metro station entrance on the Mall and depart promptly at 10 AM. Wear a helmet, bring a water bottle, and be prepared to pay Adventuring's usual $5 trip fee.
