About the event

**Lynn Headwaters: Hanes Valley - Difficulty: Hard** This is a difficult and Technical Hike. This challenging day trail offers a variety of attractions and terrain types, from the touristy Norvan Falls, to the sparsely visited backcountry of Hanes Valley, to the top of Grouse Mountain. This is the perfect hike for people who are interested in a challenge and viewing great sights, but also want to experience the natural beauty of Vancouver’s nearby mountains without the crowds of fellow tourists. The Hanes Valley Route is a legendary backcountry objective for fit, experienced hikers, linking Lynn Valley to the alpine heights of Grouse Mountain. This trail is a serious undertaking that involves traversing a massive, debris-filled valley floor before ascending a boulder field to Crown Pass. Hikers must navigate sketchy creek crossings that can be impassable during high water and tackle steep, loose scree slopes where careful footing is essential. The trail offers a variety of attractions and terrain types, from the touristy Norvan Falls and the top of Grouse Mountain to the backcountry Hanes Valley Route. This technical hike traverses several creek crossings and alpine slopes, which are snow-covered for most of the year. After arriving at the trailhead for Lynn Headwaters Regional Park, take the bridge across the creek to the hiker information and registration board. From the trailhead, follow the Lower Lynn Loop trail for 1.8 km to the Cedars Mill / Headwaters trail junction. After this junction, the trail narrows but remains easy to follow, with consistent markers, until the bottom of the scree slope below Crown Pass. **Difficulty, Distance, and Elevation:** Difficult, over 16 Kilometers and 1258 meters of elevation gain. **Meeting At:** Kilmer Park, North Vancouver.
