GET OUT of your HEAD
About the event
A playful workshop in spontaneity, self expression and connecting with other people.
Do you ever know what you want to say five minutes after the conversation is over? Do you overthink, hold back, wait for the perfect idea, or find yourself planning what you're going to say instead of listening to what's happening?
This workshop is about practicing the opposite. Using games and exercises drawn from improv comedy, we'll work on some surprisingly useful skills:
Being present instead of planning ahead. Actually listening instead of waiting to speak. Making choices before you know whether they're right. Expressing yourself clearly. Adapting when things don't go according to plan. Disagreeing without shutting down. Getting more comfortable being seen.
You don't need to be an actor. You don't need comedy experience. And you definitely don't need to arrive believing you're funny (PLEASE).
We're using comedy as a playground: a place where the stakes are low enough to experiment, fail, change your mind, make a ridiculous choice and try again.
The goal is to help you become more present, brave, expressive and responsive. The funny tends to show up as a result.
Come alone or bring a friend. Most people arrive not knowing anyone.
No experience necessary. Newcomers welcome.
