Beginner-Friendly No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu — Free Trial Class

Have you ever wanted to try Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu but felt nervous about starting? This is an official free trial class at Advantage & Yamato Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy, designed for people who are new to Jiu-Jitsu, martial arts, or grappling. No experience is needed, and your first class is completely free. You do not need a gi or uniform. Just wear comfortable athletic clothes such as a rash guard, T-shirt, shorts, or leggings. This is a No-Gi only Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class. This is also an existing regular No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class with regular academy members already training at this location. Even if the number of RSVPs on Meetup looks small, the class is not only based on Meetup attendees. Regular members already attend the class, so the actual class size is not fully reflected on Meetup. Newcomers are welcome to join through this Meetup event, experience the academy, and train alongside our regular members in a friendly and welcoming environment. In this class, we will focus on:

• Basic body movement • Simple No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu techniques • Safe partner drills • Beginner-friendly grappling concepts • Learning how to train safely and respectfully

Please bring:

• Comfortable workout clothes • Water • A towel • A positive attitude

For safety, please avoid clothing with zippers, hard buttons, metal parts, or anything that could scratch or injure your training partner. Please also remove jewelry, watches, necklaces, rings, and sharp accessories before training.

Fees & Membership

First trial class: FREE Your first class at Advantage & Yamato Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy is completely free. After your free trial, you are welcome to continue through drop-ins or monthly membership.

Drop-in after the first trial

• General drop-in: $30 CAD • Student drop-in: $20 CAD

Monthly membership

• Regular membership: $125 CAD/month • Student membership: $100 CAD/month

Student pricing is available with a valid student ID. If you enjoy your trial class and would like to train regularly and continue learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, monthly membership is recommended. Meetup is simply one way for newcomers to discover the academy and join their first free trial class.
