The documentary "Amelia Toledo: lembrar de não esquecer" presents the life and work of Amelia Toledo (1926-2017), a pioneering and innovative figure in Brazilian art. MIS screens the film with director Helio Goldsztejn ("Aqueles dias") participating in a post-screening discussion. The film traces a creator who converted her home into a studio, working across jewelry design, sculpture, and diverse materials including acrylic, metal sheets, stones and shells. Painter, draftsperson, sculptor and educator, Amelia Amorim Toledo was born in São Paulo. Her career was defined by bold experimentation and dialogue between art and life. As a teacher, she worked at institutions including Mackenzie and FAAP, and joined the newly established Universidade de Brasília under rector Darcy Ribeiro. The 1964 military coup interrupted her work in Brazil, leading her to Portugal with her family for a period. About the guest: Helio Goldsztejn is director and producer of the fictional series on modernism "Aqueles dias" (2025, TV Cultura), which premiered at the 48th Mostra Internacional de Cinema. He has directed documentaries on major figures in Brazilian culture, including "Lygia" on writer Lygia Fagundes Telles; "Henry Sobel: luz e sombras de um rabino"; "Tomie Ohtake", on one of Brazil's foremost visual artists; and works on Inezita Barroso and Theatro Municipal de São Paulo, among others. He hosted the interview program Papo de Arte on Plataforma Cultura em Casa and directed the documentary "22 em XXI" for SescTV. From 1993 to 2020, he led Metrópolis on TV Cultura, a major cultural program that won the APCA award, and curated artworks displayed in the program's set design. In 2005, he created and directed Entrelinhas, dedicated to literature. He co-founded the postgraduate course in Cultural Journalism at PUC-SP and taught at FAAP's graduate program.
