SCENE STUDY — Deep Cut

A 5-Session Course in Reading a Scene (and Yourself)

Do you go quiet exactly when you need to speak up? Replay conversations in your head, wishing you'd said it differently? This course is about learning to actually see what's happening — in a scene, and in real life — instead of half-guessing at it.

Over 5 sessions, you'll work the same scene from four angles — the whole play, the scene itself, the beats, the actions — then bring it all together in a final performance. We work with short plays and scenes only (classical or modern canon), to keep everyone's time respected. No pressure to be "good" at acting. Just willingness to show up and try.

What you'll walk away with:

— A way of reading people, moments, and stories that keeps paying off long after the course ends — Real scene partners and a small, tight-knit group — A finished scene you built and performed — More freedom, flexibility, and confidence — on stage and off No acting experience required. No need to have taken a previous course — this stands on its own.

About me: 5 months in Montréal, 10+ years of professional acting training and teaching in Ontario, drama therapist in training, scene study, Stanislavsky, Chekhov, improv-trained, yoga & meditation teacher (Russia & Canada).

What happens each session: Oct 10 — Play Analysis: Read the whole short play, so you know the story you're stepping into. Oct 17 — Scene Analysis (Pass 1): Meet your scene partner and land the scene for the first time. Oct 24 — Beat Analysis: Find where the scene turns — the exact moments something shifts. Oct 31 — Actioning (Pass 2), 1–3pm: Trade feelings for strong, playable verbs — what you're actually doing to your partner. Nov 7 — Integration: Full performance — scored, actioned, and brought together. Schedule: Saturdays, Oct 10 – Nov 7, 6–8pm (Sunday Oct 31, 1–3pm)

Investment: $175 early bird (by Sept 20) / $200 full / $40 drop-in (not recommended — breaks scene continuity)
