Black Food Fest

Serving a community gathering to center the culinary expressions of Black Austin, community and culture, The Friends Food Fest will launch the archival Southgate-Lewis cookbook. The book features recipes from the house's neighborhood dating back to the 1930s.The event will feature preparation of select dishes from the cookbook, prepared and interpreted by well respected Black chefs across the city. Attendees will get to sample the food, preview the cookbook and enjoy music and a tour of the house. A printed cookbook will also be available for purchase online via donation, supporting the Southgate Lewis House preservation efforts.
