Is this your event?About the event
With Flow and Fire, Vintani Nafassi and Manuela Lucia Tessi explore how elemental forces can function as a shared language between body, sound, and imagination, and offer children an embodied entry point into rhythm, attentive listening, and collective creation. The piece is an artistic experience for the very young and their parents, in which sound and movement are not presented as separate disciplines, but as intertwined forms of expression that arise through play, presence, and interaction. To be seen at Teatro Munganga. Please note: End time as mentioned may vary on the day itself. Shaped by an intercultural and intergenerational artistic dialogue
The collaboration between Vintani and Manuela brings together different artistic traditions and embodied knowledge systems, creating a meeting point between Mozambican African rhythmic traditions and contemporary European performance practices.
Together they create a space in which these different backgrounds and ways of knowing coexist — not to merge them, but to listen to what happens when they meet.
Manuela Tessi and Vintani Nafassi have an ongoing artistic collaboration that focuses on interdisciplinary improvisation, where dance, African traditional music and real-time composition come together.
Manuela Lucia Tessi is an Italian dance artist based in the Netherlands, who works internationally as a performing artist, choreographer and teacher. Her artistic practice focuses on the relationship between movement and musicality, with a particular interest in improvisation, kinesthetic empathy and interdisciplinary performance.
Vintani Nafassi is a Mozambican percussionist, composer, dancer and teacher specializing in African traditional music and dance. Hailing from Maputo, he combines ancestral rhythms, voice and movement in his work, and performs with instruments such as mbira, adungu, djembe, seperewa and umtshingo. His work is dedicated to preserving and sharing African musical heritage, both through performance and education.
